Senior Insight Analyst – Customer & Marketing

Birmingham | Hybrid Working | Permanent

Salary: Open to discussion / depending on experience (+bonus)

The Opportunity

We're recruiting an experienced Senior Insight Analyst to join an established organisation, helping shape digital, customer and marketing decisions through high-quality analysis and commercial insight.

This is a hands-on role working with large volumes of customer, transactional and marketing data. You'll use SQL and Power BI to investigate customer behaviour, assess marketing effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance.

We're looking for someone who can take ownership of analytical challenges, ask the right questions and uncover insights that aren't immediately obvious from the reporting.

You'll work closely with Marketing, Digital and Commercial stakeholders, providing the evidence and recommendations needed to make informed decisions.

The ability to turn complex analysis into a compelling commercial story is just as important as the technical capability behind it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis of customer and transactional data to understand purchasing behaviour, engagement and commercial performance.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, promotions, offers and loyalty initiatives, identifying what is working and where improvements can be made.
  • Investigate customer trends, behavioural changes and performance drivers, using data to uncover opportunities and potential risks.
  • Use advanced SQL to extract, manipulate and analyse large, complex datasets.
  • Develop insightful Power BI dashboards and reporting that support meaningful business decisions.
  • Explore customer segments, purchasing patterns and retention to support more effective marketing and commercial activity.
  • Take ownership of analytical projects, from understanding the business question through to presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Marketing, Digital and Commercial teams, challenging assumptions and helping shape analytical priorities.
  • Communicate complex findings clearly, explaining the commercial implications and recommending practical next steps.
  • Identify opportunities to improve analytical approaches, reporting and the wider use of customer data.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have:

  • Advanced SQL skills, with substantial hands-on experience analysing large datasets and investigating complex business questions.
  • Strong experience with Power BI or a comparable business intelligence platform.
  • A solid background in customer, marketing, digital or consumer analytics, ideally within a customer-focused business.
  • Experience evaluating areas such as campaign performance, promotions, loyalty, customer behaviour, segmentation or retention.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to investigate beyond headline figures and challenge initial assumptions.
  • Experience translating complex data into clear commercial insights, recommendations and measurable business improvements.
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership of analytical projects and manage competing stakeholder requirements.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly when engaging with senior or non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of how customer and marketing activity influences business performance.

Experience with Python, R, statistical modelling, predictive analytics or advanced analytical techniques would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful customer and marketing challenges, with the freedom to investigate complex questions and influence decisions through your analysis.

You'll have the opportunity to combine hands-on technical work with stakeholder engagement, using your findings to shape marketing activity and wider commercial decisions.

If you're an experienced analyst who enjoys understanding why things happen, not just reporting what happened, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
