Senior Inspector
Location: Brentwood, Essex
Salary: Circa £40,000 per annum
Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm | Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
A global distribution business supplying the aerospace industry is looking for an experienced Senior Inspector to oversee the day-to-day priorities of its Inspection Department. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will provide guidance to the inspection team while ensuring incoming materials and outgoing products meet requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily activities of the Inspection Department, providing technical guidance and support to Inspectors.
- Work closely with other departments to coordinate workload and priorities.
- Manage and review Inspection Queries, Shelf Life Inventory, Product Non-Conformity and Supplier Returns.
- Establish and maintain appropriate inspection standards for received goods.
- Record, review and communicate inspection findings and outcomes.
- Create, manage and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102.
- Support continuous improvement projects and identify opportunities
- Participate in root cause and failure mode investigations.
- Record product quality concerns and ensure appropriate actions are followed through.
- Help maintain compliance with customer specifications and aerospace regulations

About You
- Previous experience within an Inspection, Quality or Engineering position.
- Working knowledge of aerospace regulations and quality requirements.
- Practical understanding of AS9102 and ISO 2859-1.
- Experience with problem-solving methods and quality improvement tools.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Previous experience using precision measurement equipment such as micrometres and verniers.
- Strong numerical and literacy skills.
- Good IT capability, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and MS Office.
- A technical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to supervise and support colleagues.
