Senior Interior Designer / Interior Architect
London | Full-time | Boutique Studio | High-End Residential | £45,000–£48,000 depending on experience
Bastet Design House is seeking a talented and technically confident Senior Interior Designer / Senior Interior Architect to join our London W4 studio.
We are looking for someone with a strong design sensibility, excellent technical skills, and experience delivering refined residential interiors. The successful candidate will work closely with the Studio Director across a portfolio of high-end residential projects in the UK and internationally, contributing from concept development through detailed design and project delivery.
You will have a meticulous eye for design and detail, evident in your well-put-together portfolio and the ability to collate and understand the overall project scope, budget, program, and deliverables across all RIBA Stages (0-6) together with a thorough understanding of working to deadlines and delivering exceptional results.
This is an opportunity for an experienced designer who is ready to take greater ownership of projects and work streams while continuing to develop your skills within a small, design-led studio.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare concept designs with Director
- Commission external documentation where required
- Presenting with confidence to both internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare and oversee spatial planning and schematic design schemes
- Work with consultants to understand the roadmap to achieve necessary consents
- Prepare and oversee design development presentations and documentation
- Prepare and oversee tender documentation packages (independently if required) including drawings, details, schedules, and specifications
The Role
Working closely with the Studio Director, you will:
- Develop interior architecture and design schemes from concept through detailed design.
- Commission external documentation where required
- Presenting with confidence to both internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare and oversee spatial planning and schematic design schemes
- Translate the Studio Director's creative direction into well-resolved design proposals and technical packages.
- Produce and coordinate detailed drawing packages, including plans, elevations, sections, joinery, and bespoke details.
- Develop material, finish, sanitary ware, lighting, and architectural specifications.
- Coordinate FF&E selections and schedules alongside the wider design scheme.
- Take responsibility for defined projects and, where appropriate, independently manage smaller projects.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, specialist suppliers, and craftspeople.
- Review supplier and contractor drawings and coordinate design information.
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and design coordination meetings.
- Prepare and oversee design development presentations and documentation
- Prepare and oversee tender documentation packages (independently if required) including drawings, details, schedules, and specifications
- Monitor design intent and quality during project delivery.
- Work on multiple high-end residential projects concurrently.
- Maintain organized project documentation, schedules, and drawing information.
- Assist and review work of junior designer and architectural assistant through key RIBA Stages
- Liaise, by way of the main point of contact, with contractors on site to answer formal requests for information (RFI's) as well as record and/or sign-off design variations
- Report in a proactive manner to the Director on project progress, including raising potential client or project issues as and when they arise

About You
You will ideally have:
- 5+ years' professional experience in interior design or interior architecture, preferably within the London high-end residential sector.
- A bachelor’s degree in interior architecture and/or Architecture.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated residential interiors and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong technical drawing and detailing skills.
- Experience developing projects through concept, developed, and technical design stages.
- Good understanding of construction, materials, bespoke joinery, and interior detailing.
- Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Confidence attending site and participating in client and contractor meetings.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously.
- Thorough understanding of UK building regulations and standards relevant to the project/role.
- A collaborative attitude combined with the confidence to work independently when required.
- Ability to assist with the selection of key FF&E items and demonstrate how they relate to the interior.
- Work to deadlines (often on projects simultaneously).
- High-end residential, development, or hospitality experience highly regarded.
- Ability to ideate, create, and push design boundaries.
- Strong written and spoken English.

Software
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is essential. You must be capable of independently documenting work to RIBA Stage 4+.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, and Microsoft Office is expected. Knowledge of additional 3D visualization or presentation software would be advantageous.
