IoT Network Engineer

£600 P/D
6 Month Contract
London/Hybrid

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced IoT Network Engineer to design, implement, integrate, and support secure and scalable IoT solutions across enterprise network environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Cisco SD-Access, Cisco DNA Center (DNAC), and VXLAN, together with a solid understanding of IoT technologies, network security, device onboarding, and network segmentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, integrate, and troubleshoot end-to-end IoT solutions across enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define IoT project requirements, technical specifications, and solution architectures.
  • Integrate and onboard IoT devices onto enterprise networks using Cisco DNA Center (DNAC), ensuring secure, seamless connectivity and optimal device functionality.
  • Design and implement network strategies using DNAC to securely isolate, segment, and manage IoT traffic.
  • Develop and maintain scalable network architectures capable of supporting the growing number of IoT devices and future business requirements.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, communication modules, and IoT devices into enterprise solutions.
  • Apply network and IoT security best practices to protect devices, data, and communications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across IoT hardware, software, connectivity, and network infrastructure.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and evaluate the performance, scalability, and reliability of IoT solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate business and technical requirements into effective IoT and network solutions.
  • Leverage Cisco SD-Access, DNA Center, and VXLAN technologies to deliver secure and scalable IoT network environments.
  • Develop and execute network segmentation and security strategies for IoT deployments.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including network designs, system architecture, configuration standards, design specifications, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IoT connectivity, security, performance, and operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven professional experience in IoT development, integration, and deployment, including firmware and software development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco SD-Access, Cisco DNA Center (DNAC), and VXLAN is essential.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including network segmentation, security, routing, switching, and device onboarding.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and/or Java.
  • Strong understanding of IoT communication protocols, including MQTT, CoAP, Thread, and related technologies.
  • Experience integrating and working with sensors, actuators, communication modules, and IoT hardware.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based IoT platforms such as AWS IoT and/or Microsoft Azure IoT.
  • Good understanding of IoT security principles and network security best practices.
  • Experience designing networks that can scale efficiently to support future IoT device growth.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with enterprise-scale IoT deployments.
  • Knowledge of additional IoT protocols and technologies.
  • Experience with cloud networking and IoT security.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, DevNet, or related certifications.
  • Experience with automation, scripting, and network programmability.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust, micro-segmentation, and secure IoT architecture.
