About the role
As a Senior Interview Producer at CGTN Europe, you will play a key role in securing and delivering high-quality interviews for our global audience across television and digital platforms. This includes guest-led content for our flagship TV news programmes including The World Today and Global Business Europe, alongside our talk shows, special coverage, original segments and major events programming. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role that requires strong editorial judgement, excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of high-profile guests and organisations.
The role involves working a rota that includes daytime, evening and weekend shifts. It is an office-based job, with the expectation that employees work from the CGTN Europe bureau in London rather than remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to the daily news agenda and breaking news by identifying and securing relevant, authoritative and engaging guests.
- Research, pitch and book high-profile guests for daily programmes, special coverage and longer-term projects.
- Manage interviews from initial approach through to delivery, including guest liaison, logistics and publishing interviews online.
- Prepare clear, accurate briefings for producers and on-air talent.
- Manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines effectively, particularly during breaking news.
- Represent the guest producing team at daily and weekly editorial meetings and contribute to forward planning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with companies, institutions, organisations, experts and other potential contributors, helping to expand CGTN Europe's network of contacts.
- Maintain accurate guest records and contact information.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across CGTN Europe and other CGTN bureaus.

Person specification
- Significant experience in live television news or current affairs, ideally within an international or 24-hour news environment.
- Strong editorial judgement and an ability to identify guests who can provide authoritative and engaging perspectives on the news.
- Exceptional research, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and confidence dealing with senior guests, representatives and colleagues.
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple bookings and deadlines in a fast-moving newsroom.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to generate guest and interview ideas and respond quickly to changing news priorities.
- Strong interest in international news, current affairs, business and economic issues.
- An established network of relevant contacts across business, economics, politics, international affairs or other areas relevant to CGTN Europe's coverage would be advantageous.
