The role
As a Senior Inventory Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll join our Mission Systems Supply Chain team supporting a key Military Satellite Communications contract. This is a newly created leadership role offering the opportunity to shape inventory strategy, drive continuous improvement and influence critical defence support operations. You'll lead a remote team, collaborate with senior stakeholders and play a vital role in ensuring the availability, accuracy and control of inventory that supports essential defence capabilities.
This role offers outstanding exposure across supply chain, logistics, procurement and operational teams, providing excellent opportunities for professional growth within a global engineering and defence organisation.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- As Senior Inventory Manager you will be responsible for the management of the Military Satellite Communications Inventory team and oversight of the day-to-day activities in support of the contract.
Day to day you will:
- Maintain overall accountability of the contract Public Stores Account, ensuring reporting accuracy and on time submission
- Promote a data accuracy and system driven mindset within the inventory team.
- Representation of the Inventory team at project meetings.
- Ownership of the contract Inventory policies and processes, using user feedback to maintain a continuous improvement approach to addressing blockers and increase efficiencies.
- Provide Inventory SME support to the team and wider project and work in collaboration with the project Procurement and Logistics teams, as well as wider project departments such as Service Delivery, Finance, ILS, and Business Operations.
- Stakeholder management with our MoD customer and review data accuracy, utilising look ups and pivot tables on excel

This is a full-time, 37-hour per week role based at Hawthorn, Oakhanger, Devonport or Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of two days a week in the office. Travel to other Babcock and customer sites will be expected.
Essential experience of the Senior Inventory Manager
- Previous Inventory/Supply Chain/Logistics Management experience within the Defence Sector.
- Understanding of systems and knowledge relating to inventory management and material control.
- The ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and customer.
- Experience leading a team.
- Excel experience in reviewing and manipulating the data, using look ups and pivot tables.
Qualifications for the Senior Inventory Manager
- CILT level 3 or above or similar equivalent
- Leadership and management level 3 or above

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
