Senior Investment Analyst – Equity Long/Short / Quantamental

We are working with a London based buy side firm looking to hire a Senior Investment Analyst into a sophisticated equity long/short strategy combining fundamental investment judgement, systematic research, data and AI.

This is an influential role working directly alongside the lead investor, helping determine what information genuinely matters, how it should be interpreted and what it means for individual stocks and the wider portfolio.

The successful candidate will not be hired simply to produce traditional equity research. Instead, they will sit at the intersection of fundamental investing, market intelligence, data and technology — helping turn large volumes of information into clear, actionable investment insight.

The role requires somebody who understands not only companies and markets, but also how information should flow through an investment process. That includes assessing the quality of data and research, identifying what is relevant to a decision and helping improve the systems and processes used to support the investment team.

This is not a pure technology role and it is not a traditional research seat. The client is looking for a genuine markets person with strong fundamental judgement, a structured approach to information and a high level of comfort using AI and data as part of the investment process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing high-quality research on individual companies and market developments
  • Forming clear views on what is driving equity markets and why it matters
  • Assessing the relevance and likely market impact of new information as it emerges
  • Monitoring existing investment theses, catalysts and changing risk/reward dynamics
  • Supporting analysis across both long and short positions
  • Reading and interpreting broker research, company announcements, earnings and market commentary
  • Turning large volumes of news, research and data into concise and useful outputs for the lead investor
  • Helping prioritise information based on what is genuinely relevant to investment decisions
  • Supporting the development and refinement of proprietary stock-screening tools
  • Using AI-assisted research, systematic screening and data analysis to improve idea generation and decision-making
  • Helping determine which datasets, research inputs and information sources should be incorporated into the investment process
  • Assessing whether data is being ingested and processed effectively and whether the quality of the output is sufficient
  • Working closely with engineering and technology colleagues to improve research workflows, data pipelines and internal investment tools
  • Helping ensure that investment information is structured, consistent and easy to act on

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The opportunity should particularly appeal to somebody who enjoys fundamental investing and markets but also believes the traditional research process can be materially improved through better use of data, technology, and AI.

You will have significant exposure to the lead investor and considerable influence over how research is conducted, information is prioritised and the overall investment process develops.

For the right individual, this offers the opportunity to become a central part of a growing investment team and play an important role in building a modern, technology-enabled equity investment platform.
