Senior Investment Oversight Manager

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Change Execution Team in the role of Senior Investment Oversight Manager.

You’ll play a key part in shaping how HSBC plans, governs and delivers investment across UK Change Execution. As Senior Investment Oversight Manager, you’ll provide strategic insight, constructive challenge and clear recommendations to senior leaders, working across Finance, Change, Technology and business teams. It’s an opportunity to broaden your network, influence important investment decisions and help build a strong shadow finance capability in a collaborative, high-profile environment.

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Oversee the investment portfolio, including commitments, approvals, funding, delivery status, benefits and both governed and non-governed change expenditure
  • Lead investment-case governance, reviewing assumptions, affordability, options, benefits, dependencies and risks before approval
  • Coordinate financial planning and forecasting, including the full FRP lifecycle from strategic demand and prioritisation through to approval, baseline and in-year management
  • Produce portfolio performance insight, covering actuals, forecasts, burn rate, delivery, benefits, capitalisation and cost allocation
  • Challenge and advise senior stakeholders, identifying affordability concerns, material variances, reprioritisation opportunities and potential value improvements
  • Maintain robust controls and audit evidence, including oversight of capitalisation, recharges, cost allocation, data quality, governance actions and portfolio risks
  • Lead and develop colleagues, establishing effective ways of working, quality standards, knowledge sharing and a culture of accountability and constructive challenge

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive investment oversight and strategic planning experience
  • Practical experience working within the HSBC change framework, with a clear understanding of its governance, assurance, approvals, delivery and control requirements
  • Strong financial management capability, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting and scenario modelling
  • Experience of change governance and delivery lifecycles, including investment approvals, assurance, risk management and benefits tracking
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex financial and portfolio data into clear insight and recommendations
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, including the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders without relying on formal authority
  • Excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills, including the ability to produce executive-level papers, manage competing demands and work effectively across Finance, Change, Technology and business teams
