Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Investment Analyst to help build AJ Bell’s profile as a leading voice on investment markets, economics and retail investing.

This is a high profile role for someone who combines strong investment and economic knowledge with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and engagingly. You’ll act as an AJ Bell brand ambassador and media spokesperson, providing authoritative insight on markets, investment trends and the economy across national, consumer and trade media.

Alongside responding to the daily news agenda, you’ll develop original analysis and thought leadership, create engaging content for our customers and help identify the investment stories and themes that matter to retail investors.

What You’ll Be Doing

Media and PR

  • Act as a regular spokesperson on investment markets, macroeconomics and investing across TV, radio, national, consumer and trade media.
  • Provide timely, authoritative analysis of market movements, investment trends, economic data and geopolitical developments.
  • Identify compelling investment stories and angles that strengthen AJ Bell’s presence in the national and financial media.
  • Produce clear and engaging commentary in response to market events, economic announcements, regulatory developments and legislative changes.
  • Respond quickly to media requests for expert investment and economic insight.
  • Develop original, data-led analysis and thought leadership on issues affecting investors, producing reports, press releases and supporting content.
  • Develop and contribute to longer-term PR campaigns around key investment and economic themes.
  • Work closely with our Investments, PR, Marketing and Content teams to identify opportunities to grow AJ Bell’s profile and reach new audiences.

Content and customer engagement

  • Produce high-quality investment and market content for the AJ Bell website.
  • Create and present video content explaining investment concepts, market events and economic developments.
  • Contribute regularly to AJ Bell podcasts, webinars and other digital content.
  • Help create engaging educational content that makes investing and financial markets more accessible to retail investors.
  • Provide expert insight for social media and other customer communications where appropriate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll also have:

  • Proven experience within investment markets, investment research, asset or wealth management, financial journalism, economics or a closely related field.
  • Strong knowledge of investment markets, asset classes and macroeconomics.
  • A clear understanding of how economic data, monetary policy and geopolitical developments influence financial markets and retail investors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial topics clearly to a broad audience.
  • Experience producing investment analysis, market commentary or financial content for external audiences.
  • A good understanding of retail investing and the issues that matter to individual investors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to build relationships across the business and externally.
  • The ability to work effectively under demanding deadlines in a fast-moving news environment.

  • A proactive, curious approach, with the drive to uncover new ideas, stories and angles.
  • The confidence to represent AJ Bell publicly, including through media interviews, podcasts, webinars and events.

Experience of the investment platform market and an understanding of AJ Bell’s position within it would be advantageous.

It would be great if you also have:

  • A professional investment qualification such as CFA, CISI, IMC or equivalent.
  • A degree in economics, finance, investment or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a media spokesperson, particularly across TV or radio.
  • Experience presenting webinars, podcasts, panels or public events.
