Job Description
- Leading all aspects of an IT audit assignment, ensuring professional and quality standards are met.
- Identifying and assessing complex IT risks and controls.
- Engage with audit partners.
- Being a 'critical friend' within key HMRC and cross-Government programmes to implement Government and HMRC strategy.
- Provide advice on risk, governance and control to the achievement of strategic objectives.
- Communicate with senior management using appropriate styles, methods and timing, to maximise understanding and impact.
- Providing advice on risk, governance, and control.
- Contributing to the development of the internal audit plan and processes.
- Acting as a mentor or line manager to trainee auditors as the need arises.
Person specification
Essential Criteria
- A qualified IT Auditor with an IT audit qualification
- CISA or equivalent e.g. CRISC, CISM, CGEIT and completed logbook
- With relevant post qualification experience - criteria listed below
- Experience of delivering IT internal audit reviews in a medium to large sized organisation.
- A strong team player and independent analytical problem solver who provides solutions and works out what needs to be done and take pride in doing it to completion.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with an ability to relate with people at all levels in an organisation and to build and maintain respect both professionally and personally.

Moves Adjustment Payment will be available for this role, provided the successful applicant is a current HMRC colleague in Bradford and meets the eligibility requirements outlined in the HMRC's Moves Adjustment Payment guidance.

Selection process details
How To Apply
After submission of the first stage of your application, you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Verbal Test. If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.
Please be aware that the Online Tests on this campaign will not be accessible during the hours of 27th September - 4pm to midnight.
Please do not attempt to launch the test during this time, as you may experience technical issues and we may not be able to assist you before the closing date and time.
Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the tests is 29/09/26 - 23:55pm.
If you fail to complete the online test before the deadline your application will be withdrawn. Guidance for the test will be available when you are invited to take the test. The tests are administered online and accessed via the CS Jobs website.
Please ensure you allow sufficient time to complete and submit the final stage of your application after submitting your online test. The deadline for both the test and the application is 29/09/26 - 23:55pm.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide the following:
- A name-blind CV including your job history and previous experiences.
- Your Personal Statement (max 500 words) should evidence your suitability for the role, and how you meet the responsibilities and essential criteria as outlined in the Person Specification part of the advert.
Please complete a separate statement (Max 250 words) for the Desirable Criteria where applicable. This is not essential for the role but may be considered by the vacancy-holder where candidates have the same scores at interview.

Sift
At sift, your CV and your Personal Statement will be assessed, with the successful candidates being invited to interview.
We may also raise the score required at any stage of the process if we receive a high number of applications.
Interview
During the panel interview, you will be assessed using experience based questions.
A short presentation, details of which will be sent to the candidate at least a week before interview.
The presentation will need to be sent in one day before the interview, with candidates presenting it at the start of the interview.
Interviews will take place face to face - Manchester and London

Online Tests - Banked Scores
When an applicant has a banked score they are not asked to retake the same test, providing it is:
- set at the same job level, and
- within the same system.
Scores will be banked for six months, or until a new score benchmark is applied, whichever is sooner. This means that if a candidate applies for another vacancy at this grade they may not have to retake the test within that time, and their previous score will be used for the new vacancy.
