Senior IT Engineer (MSP)

£37-45k + solid benefits

Training & certification support, pension + more

Burscough - hybrid working after probation

The opportunity:

If you're working in an MSP and you've reached the point where you're regularly handling the more complex technical issues, supporting other engineers and getting involved in projects, this could be worth a look.

We're working with an MSP based in the West Lancs area looking for an experienced Senior IT Engineer to join their technical team.

This is predominantly a 3rd line support position, so you'll be handling more complex escalations across customer environments, alongside getting involved in infrastructure improvements and project work.

It's a broad technical role, so you won't be limited to one particular technology or spend every day dealing with the same issues.

Day to day:

One day you could be troubleshooting a Microsoft 365 or Intune issue, working through an Active Directory problem or investigating something within Azure. The next you might be resolving a server issue, looking at a customer's networking infrastructure or supporting a project.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll be working across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server and Azure, alongside firewalls, switches, VLANs and VPNs.

There's also the opportunity to get involved in projects, whether that's Microsoft 365 migrations, Modern Workplace deployments, server upgrades or improving existing customer infrastructure.

Because this is an MSP environment, you'll also be dealing directly with customers, taking ownership of issues and making sure they're properly resolved and documented.

Who we are looking for:

This will probably suit somebody who's already spent a good few years working within an MSP and has naturally progressed into handling more complex 3rd line support issues.

You might already be a Senior IT Engineer or 3rd Line Engineer, or you could be a strong 2nd Line Engineer who's regularly handling escalations and looking for that next step.

You'll need a solid grounding across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID, with good hands-on Intune experience being particularly important.

A good understanding of networking, Azure and general infrastructure troubleshooting will also be useful, alongside any experience supporting migrations or technical projects.

More than anything, we're looking for someone who enjoys getting stuck into technical problems, takes ownership and is comfortable working across a variety of customer environments.

The Next Steps:

If you're reading this thinking it sounds like the sort of role you've been looking for, let's have a conversation.

If you've got a strong MSP background, you're comfortable at 3rd line level and you want a role offering a mix of technical support and project work, I'd be interested in speaking with you.

Drop me a message, send your CV across or give Joe White at CRG TEC a call and I'll happily talk you through the role in more detail.
