Senior IT Support Engineer - Engineering / Automotive

Location: Brixworth, Northamptonshire
Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum DOE

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join our client, a globally recognised engineering and technology organisation. Operating within a fast-paced, high-performance environment, they're looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical issues and delivering an exceptional service to end users.

This role would suit someone who enjoys getting stuck into problems, working closely with users, and taking responsibility for issues through to resolution. You'll work across a broad Microsoft estate, supporting end users, infrastructure, cloud services and business-critical systems.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing 2nd line support with regular exposure to 3rd line issues
  • Supporting Microsoft 365, Azure and modern workplace technologies
  • Managing incidents, service requests and technical escalations
  • Troubleshooting Windows, networking, hardware and software issues
  • Supporting system upgrades, deployments and infrastructure projects
  • Working closely with internal teams and stakeholders across the business
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reliability and user experience
  • Participating in occasional out-of-hours support when required

What we're looking for:

  • Strong experience in a 2nd Line or Senior Support position
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across Windows 10/11 environments
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Azure AD and Intune
  • Active Directory and Group Policy administration
  • Solid networking knowledge including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and VLANs
  • Experience with desktop, laptop and mobile device support
  • Familiarity with ITSM platforms such as Jira or ServiceNow
  • Exposure to cloud and on-prem infrastructure environments
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving

Nice to have:

  • ITIL Foundation
  • CCNA or equivalent networking experience
  • Microsoft certifications
  • Experience supporting business-critical or high-availability environments
