Senior IT Infrastructure Consultant – Hampshire County Council

Salary: £48,948 - £54,423 per annum, plus market supplement of £3,000 available (subject to review)

Our IT function supports over one million residents by ensuring high-quality, innovative digital solutions. We’re looking for Senior IT Infrastructure Consultants to work across a broad range of technologies, leading critical projects and mentoring colleagues as part of our high-performing, supportive delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior IT Infrastructure Consultant, you will:
- Lead technical delivery of enterprise IT solutions that align with business needs, corporate strategies, and architectural standards.
- Work across multiple technologies, including:
- Microsoft 365 services and Power Platform
- Azure services and virtualisation
- Automation and scripting
- Windows Server & networking (firewalls, VPNs, switching, routing, load balancing, CDNs, wireless)
- Provide expert consultancy to senior management, shaping IT strategy and promoting best practices.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, offering guidance, peer reviews, and coaching.
- Drive innovation and excellence in infrastructure delivery to enhance public service efficiency.

Requirements
We are looking for:
- A senior or aspiring senior IT professional with a strong background in infrastructure and networking.
- Subject matter expertise in at least one of our key technology areas (Microsoft 365, Azure, automation, server virtualisation, or networking).
- Experience in collaborative, high-performance team environments with a focus on innovation and public service improvement.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development, both for yourself and colleagues.
Vetting Requirements
This role is subject to Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPV). Applicants must also have resided in the UK for at least 3 years to obtain clearance.
