Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer | 6 Month Contract | Up to £650/day (Inside IR35) | Motherwell + travel across Central Belt sites
We're recruiting a hands-on Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join a major M&A integration programme, taking legacy IT infrastructure and bringing it into a stable, standardised environment.
This isn't a desk-based architecture role - you'll be in server rooms and comms rooms, racking and cabling hardware, planning and executing physical site relocations, and untangling years of legacy network sprawl, while mentoring an early-career in-house team through to handover.
What you'll be doing:
- Assessing legacy infrastructure and designing pragmatic, low-risk migration plans
- Physically relocating equipment between sites - racking, unracking, cabling, and re-cabling
- Commissioning new server rooms, including rack population and structured cabling
- Managing Dell servers, Windows Server, and virtualisation (Hyper-V/VMware)
- Configuring and maintaining QNAP NAS storage
- Owning backup and restore via Veeam, including active migration support
- Configuring and troubleshooting Cisco Meraki networking (MX/MS/MR)
- Supporting SaaS/tenancy migrations and identity platform work (AD/Entra ID)
- Mentoring junior IT team members ahead of contract handover

- Senior-level infrastructure experience in a mid-to-large organisation with complex, bespoke legacy environments
- Experience in a regulated sector (financial services, healthcare, life sciences, defence)
- Strong hands-on skills: Dell servers, Windows Server, Hyper-V/VMware, QNAP NAS, Cisco Meraki
- M&A, transformation, or large-scale integration experience highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Based within a genuinely commutable distance of Motherwell - this is a 5-day-a-week, fully on-site role
