Senior IT Operations Manager

Deep Sea Electronics is a global leader in the design and manufacture of generator controllers, automatic transfer switch controllers, battery chargers, and vehicle and off-highway control systems. With over 200 employees across four continents, we supply our products to customers in more than 150 countries, both directly from our UK head office and through a well-established international distributor network.

This is a hands-on senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation's IT strategy, while maintaining overall accountability for the day-to-day management and operational performance of the IT function. The role holder will assume end-to-end responsibility for the company's IT function, providing strategic and operational leadership across all technology services, infrastructure, networks, systems, applications, cybersecurity, and end-user support. They will ensure that technology capabilities are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with the organisation's business objectives.

The successful candidate will lead both the IT team, establish and embed robust IT governance and change management processes, and take ownership of the organisation's cybersecurity programme, including leading the journey towards ISO 27001 accreditation. They will be accountable for service delivery, infrastructure performance, information security, technology risk management, and the development and execution of the long-term IT roadmap.

Operating within a manufacturing environment, the role requires close collaboration with the organisation's parent company to ensure effective alignment, integration, and standardisation of IT services and strategic initiatives where appropriate. As a key member of the leadership team, the postholder will act as a trusted advisor and stakeholder to directors and senior business leaders, translating business requirements into technology solutions and ensuring IT investments deliver measurable business value.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
