Senior Java Developer (Contract) – 3 Positions
Location: London (Hybrid – 2-3 days per week onsite)
Contract: 6-month rolling contract
Rate: £800 per day (Inside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP
Overview
We are looking for three experienced Senior Java Developers to join a high-performing engineering team delivering large-scale, cloud-native applications. You'll be working on modern distributed systems, building highly scalable services using Java, Kafka, AWS and Kubernetes within an Agile environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for contractors who enjoy solving complex technical challenges and delivering resilient, event-driven platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain high-performance Java microservices.
- Build and enhance event-driven architectures using Kafka.
- Develop cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Deploy and operate applications using Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement across the development team.
- Support production releases and help troubleshoot complex technical issues where required.

Essential Skills
- Strong commercial experience with Java (Java 11+ preferred).
- Proven experience building microservices.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services.
- Experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes.
- Experience with REST APIs and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, CI/CD and automated testing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
