Senior Java Developer

Location: Fully Remote, with quarterly team meet-ups

Salary: £85,000-£110,000 + performance-related bonus

About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing financial technology business developing software solutions for organisations operating in complex financial environments.

Due to continued growth and new client wins, they are expanding their engineering team and are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to play a key role in developing and evolving their SaaS platform.

You will work across existing platform development, new product functionality and client implementations, with the opportunity to have a genuine impact within a growing engineering team.

The Role

As a Senior Java Developer, you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain Java applications and APIs
  • Deliver new functionality driven by client and product requirements
  • Enhance and improve existing systems and platform capabilities
  • Integrate with third-party systems and services
  • Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code
  • Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices
  • Work closely with Product and Client Services teams to understand requirements
  • Investigate complex technical issues and identify effective solutions
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of other engineers
  • Make use of modern development tools, including AI, throughout the SDLC

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong commercial Java development experience
  • 7+ years' experience, ideally within financial services or a complex enterprise environment
  • Experience with Spring/Spring Boot
  • Strong experience developing and integrating APIs
  • Good understanding of modern software development practices
  • Experience with automated testing and TDD
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and business stakeholders

  • Experience within financial services, capital markets, trading or other similar environment
  • Experience working in complex enterprise environments
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading developers
