π Senior Java Developer β Full-Stack | Legal Aid Agency (MoJ) | Up to Β£470/day (Inside IR35)
We're hiring a Senior Java Developer to join a major UK public sector programme supporting the Legal Aid Agency, contributing to the design and development of full-stack Java applications and RESTful APIs.
π Location: Leeds, Sheffield or London (travel required once a month max)
π° Rate: Up to Β£470/day, Inside IR35
π Clearance: Active SC clearance required, or strong confidence of obtaining it
β οΈ Essential: Prior experience working within UK Government or wider public sector is required
What we're looking for:
- β Strong, recent experience developing applications using modern Java and Spring Boot (experience with legacy Java versions advantageous)
- β Experience developing front-end applications (Thymeleaf and GOV.UK Design System experience desirable)
- β Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, including API versioning (OpenAPI/Swagger desirable)
- β Experience with relational databases and data access technologies β SQL, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate (Oracle experience desirable)
- β Experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit 5 and mocking frameworks
- β Experience writing automated UI regression tests, ideally using Playwright with Java
- β Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions and Helm charts
- β Experience working with AWS and Kubernetes
- β Experience implementing observability, monitoring and structured logging using tools such as OpenSearch and Prometheus
- β Strong grasp of software design principles and design patterns for maintainable, scalable applications
- β Previous UK Government or public sector experience essential
