Senior Java Developer
Location: 1-2 days onsite London
Pay Rate: £650/day
CONTRACT ROLE - IR35 Status: Outside IR35
The Senior Java Developer role supports a Fintech and/or Challenger Bank, focusing on designing and building payment and/or financial products within the banking sector. The position demands a proactive, technically skilled individual with experience in Fintech product development.
Key Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in designing, architecture, and building fintech products such as current accounts, savings, ISAs, fixed deposit, lending, or mortgages.
- Hands-on Java development experience using Spring Boot.
- Strong AI tooling skills, specifically Claude or Codex.
- Proven involvement in the full lifecycle of fintech payment product development.

Nice to Have
- Experience with ISA implementations or integrations.
- Knowledge of current account, savings, or fixed deposit product development.
Role Overview
This position requires a senior Java Software Engineer who has contributed to the design, architecture, and implementation of fintech payment solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with the engineering team, providing innovative technical input and supporting the delivery of savings and payment features. The role involves a mix of hands-on coding, architecture support, and proactive problem solving. Working arrangements include 1-2 days per week on-site in London and 3-4 days remote.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement core payment and savings product functionalities.
- Collaborate on system design and architecture for scalable fintech solutions.
- Support the team in AI tooling integration, especially with Claude or Codex.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to uphold coding standards.
- Support delivery within the stated timelines and quality standards.
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Proven experience in Fintech product design, architecture, and build with Java and Spring Boot.
- Heavy Banking background.
- Strong AI skills related to Claude or Codex.
