Senior Java Developer | Payments | Java, Spring Boot, AWS, React | Remote | Up to £85K
We've partnered with a payments company on the hunt for a Senior Java Developer to sit alongside their Head of Technology in a fully hands-on capacity. This is a back-end-heavy full stack role where you'll be spending the majority of your time in Java and Spring Boot, but you'll need to be comfortable picking up React front-end work when needed.
Domain knowledge in payments or FX is a genuine plus if you've got it, but it won't outweigh strong technical fundamentals - they'd rather hire the better engineer than the better domain fit. There's no management layer between you and the decisions that matter, so you'll have direct input on architecture, engineering standards, and how the team builds.

📍 Remote – with occasional travel to the London office (once or twice a year)
💷 £75,000 to £85,000 + Benefits

Technical strength is the priority here over domain background - however, previous exposure to FX, payments or FinTech would be a bonus, not a deal breaker.
They're particularly interested in engineers who bring strong software engineering fundamentals and the confidence to challenge and influence technical decisions, and who can explain complex ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders, rather than developers who have simply worked with the technologies.
