Location: Manchester
About the Job
Join the Financial Services (FS) Business Unit within Capgemini’s Cloud & Custom Applications (C&CA) practice as a Software Engineer, helping clients solve complex business challenges through modern, scalable digital solutions. Aligned to our vision of Consult with Purpose. Continuously Evolve. Architect Tomorrow., you will play a key role in delivering high-quality applications, enabling intelligent automation, and supporting AI-driven transformation. Working within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to building innovative, secure, and future-ready solutions while continuously developing your expertise and helping shape a workforce that is increasingly AI-fluent and customer-focused.
Hybrid Working
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance scalable enterprise applications that deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Translate business and user requirements into robust, maintainable, and high-quality software solutions.
- Build integrated services and application components that improve efficiency, user experience, and operational performance.
- Contribute to the adoption of AI-enabled capabilities and intelligent automation within business solutions.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Ensure applications are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high delivery standards.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify opportunities for optimisation and innovation.
- Support modern delivery practices that enable reliable, repeatable, and efficient software releases.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and future-ready capability development.

Required Skills
- Strong software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale applications.
- Proven experience developing object-oriented and backend application solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Python development.
- Experience designing and implementing microservices-based architectures.
- Strong understanding of application integration patterns, APIs, and service-oriented design.
- Expertise in database design, data modelling, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
- Experience working across the full software development lifecycle in Agile delivery environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience building and integrating AI-driven capabilities into business applications.
- Knowledge of Generative AI concepts including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, AI agents, and model integration patterns.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning and adoption of emerging technologies and AI capabilities.
