The opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a growing consultancy delivering complex, mission-critical software across Central Government.
You'll be joining an Agile engineering team building bespoke software solutions from the ground up, working on projects that have a genuine real-world impact. This is a hands-on role where you'll have the opportunity to work across the full software lifecycle – from requirements and design through to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The environment is predominantly Java and React, alongside TypeScript/JavaScript, with applications deployed across AWS, Azure, and private cloud environments.
You'll also have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, mentor other engineers, and work directly with clients, making this a strong next step for an experienced developer looking for more ownership without moving away from hands-on engineering.

- Strong commercial Java experience
- Full-stack development experience ideally with TypeScript, JavaScript, and React
- Experience working with AWS and/or Azure
- CI/CD experience with tools such as GitLab
- Good understanding of software design, development, and testing
- Comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle
- Experience mentoring engineers or taking ownership of technical work is beneficial
