Senior / Staff Software Engineers – Java, Spring Boot & Angular
£90,000–£120,000 | Permanent | Hybrid – Warminster | Multiple Hires
I’m working with a global software product business building mission-critical platforms used across defence, government and resilience environments.
They’re continuing to grow their UK engineering team and are hiring across three areas:
- Senior Backend Engineer
- Senior Full Stack Engineer
- Staff Engineer / Technical Lead
The common thread across all three roles is strong software engineering, modern Java and the opportunity to work on systems where security, reliability and engineering quality genuinely matter.
This isn’t an environment where engineers simply work through tickets. They’re looking for people who want to take ownership, contribute to architecture, solve difficult technical problems and influence how software is designed and delivered.
The engineering environment
The core stack includes:
- Java 17+
- Spring Boot
- PostgreSQL
- REST APIs
- Microservices
- Kafka / Messaging
- AWS
- Kubernetes
- Docker
- CI/CD
For the Full Stack position, there is also a strong focus on:
- Angular
- TypeScript
Senior Backend Engineer
You’ll be focused predominantly on designing and building scalable backend services and integrations. This could include Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, PostgreSQL, cloud-native deployments and solving problems around reliability, scalability and performance.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We’d particularly like to speak with engineers who have experience across Java, Spring Boot, SQL, APIs, distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
Senior Full Stack Engineer
This role is genuinely full stack. You’ll work across Java/Spring Boot on the backend and Angular/TypeScript on the frontend, taking ownership of features from system design through to production.
Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript, REST APIs and SQL would be ideal.
Staff Engineer / Technical Lead
This is for someone who wants broader technical influence without moving away from engineering. You’ll help shape architecture and engineering standards across teams, mentor experienced engineers, review technical designs and solve difficult system-level problems while remaining close to the code.
We’re particularly interested in people currently operating as a:
- Staff Engineer
- Principal Engineer
- Technical Lead
- Lead Software Engineer
- Hands-on Architect
You’ll likely have strong experience with Java/Spring, distributed systems, cloud architecture, event-driven platforms and technical leadership across multiple teams.
