Senior Java Developer
Seniority Level: Mid-Senior level - Up to 10 years' experience
Location: London (Hybrid, typically 2 days a week in the office)
Day Rate: £575 per day, inside IR35
Sponsorship: Not available, candidates must already hold the right to work in the UK

A large, well-established international technology consultancy delivering software engineering for major enterprise and fintech clients. They are scaling up their backend engineering capability in London and have multiple Senior Java Developer positions open now.

What you will be doing as a Senior Java Developer:
- Building and owning backend services in Java and Spring Boot for customer-facing applications used by 10,000 or more users
- Designing and evolving microservices, with a strong focus on code quality, test coverage, and maintainability
- Taking end-to-end ownership of services in production, including monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis
- Advising on system and architectural design, balancing business needs against technical trade-offs
- Working across SQL and NoSQL data stores, with Kafka experience valued where relevant
- Deploying and operating services on AWS using Kubernetes, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD

What we are looking for from the Senior Java Developer:
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
- Experience working within fintech or payments
- A backend or distributed systems background, ideally on large-scale, customer-facing applications
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Kafka experience a strong plus
- Comfortable with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD
- A track record of demonstrable project impact, not just a list of responsibilities
