Are you a skilled Java Engineer looking for a high-impact contract role within a major financial services environment?

We are currently representing a leading global technology consultancy as they search for an experienced Java Developer to join a London-based client initiative on an initial 6-month contract.

In this position, you will work alongside an international engineering team responsible for critical risk management and clearing platforms. Your efforts will directly impact mandatory industry integration programs, cross-margining initiatives, and system modernizations aiming for cloud scalability.

As the successful candidate:

  • You will actively design, write, test, and deploy software across the complete engineering lifecycle, directly engaging with business stakeholders.
  • You will assist in building, scripting, and testing end-to-end technical solutions to validate statement output, margin calculations, and complex risk metrics.
  • You will advocate for software quality through continuous integration, thorough code reviews, and test-driven engineering principles.

  • Demonstrates extensive hands-on development experience in core Java and Spring frameworks β€” required
  • Holds strong fundamentals in relational database design, SQL querying, Unix environments, and build tools like Gradle β€” required
  • Shows proven exposure to Agile delivery, TDD/BDD methods, and continuous integration pipelines β€” required
  • Brings previous exposure to investment banking, capital markets, or complex financial domain systems β€” preferred
  • Has experience with event-driven architecture, distributed caching tools, or modern front-end frameworks β€” advantageous
