Job Title: Senior Java Platform Engineer
Location: London, Canary Wharf (Hybrid – 2-3 days per week onsite)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Work Authorization: US work authorization required (no visa sponsorship available)
We’re hiring a Senior Java Platform Engineer to build a large-scale developer platform for a leading global investment bank. The platform automates software remediation across thousands of repositories — identifying vulnerable dependencies, updating code, running changes through CI/CD, and generating validated pull requests. This is a hands-on backend/platform engineering role, not a traditional CRUD position.
What You'll Do
- Build Java 21 / Spring Boot services and APIs
- Design scalable distributed backend systems
- Build automation around Maven, Gradle, Git, and CI/CD
- Run services and automated workloads on Kubernetes / AWS
- Develop tooling for dependency upgrades and code remediation
- Work with technologies such as OpenRewrite, Renovate, and SBOM/security scanning
- Own solutions from design through production

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
