🚀 Java Engineer – Java | Kafka | Kubernetes | TDD
📍 West London – Hybrid (2 days onsite a week)
⏳ 6-Month Contract
💷 £600–£650 per day – Inside IR35

An exciting opportunity has opened up, working on modern, high-scale technology within a talented engineering environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Java Engineer to get hands-on with microservices, Kubernetes, Kafka and event-driven architecture, while contributing to applications used at significant scale.
🔥 What you'll be doing
- Design, develop and test new microservice applications using technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Build highly scalable, maintainable and extensible applications
- Work closely with other developers, sharing knowledge and driving best practices
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to internal training initiatives
- Help shape and improve software delivery principles, standards and engineering practices
- Work with modern event-driven architectures and distributed systems

🛠️ What we're looking for
- Strong commercial experience developing with Java
- Hands-on, Strong experience with Kubernetes and Kafka
- Experience with configuration and build tools such as Jenkins, Maven and/or Gradle
- Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana
- Strong understanding of software engineering methodologies, including Scrum and XP
- Knowledge of design patterns, SOLID principles and event-driven design
- Experience with TDD, BDD and pair programming
- Strong experience working with APIs
- Experience with Kafka and MQTT / IoT
- Exp with AWS
- Mentorship experience
