Back End Java Developer – DV Cleared – Defence Programme – London - 12 Month Contract - Outside IR35
We're hiring on behalf of a Defence client for an experienced Back End Java Developer to help build the core services behind a complex Defence intelligence platform.
You'll design and build secure, API driven microservices covering task management, workflow orchestration, metadata, documents and system integration which will support real time operational decisions.
This is a 12 month contract, outside IR35 requiring 4 days a week on site in London.

- Designing, developing and maintaining Java based microservices with Spring Boot
- Building secure RESTful APIs for tasking, workflow, metadata and document services
- Implementing workflow orchestration and telemetry
- Integrating with enterprise data sources, identity services and existing Defence systems
- Working across SQL, NoSQL and search technologies
- Supporting containerisation, CI/CD and cloud native deployments
- Applying secure coding, logging, monitoring and audit best practices
Essential:
- Current active DV Security Clearance
- Strong Java and Spring Boot experience
- Solid REST API design/consumption experience
- SQL and NoSQL database experience
- Docker/Kubernetes or similar containerisation with CI/CD and DevSecOps familiarity

- MongoDB, MSSQL, RDS or mixed data store patterns
- Event driven architecture / async messaging
- Knowledge graph, data ontologies or semantic search experience
