About the Company
My client are a boutique high-frequency trading firm based in London.
About the Role
They are recruiting two senior software engineers who will write and extend the core Java services that make up their trading platform.
This role will suit someone who wants to move away from a large corporate into a small collaborative team, where everyone has access to all parts of the codebase. You will work across a broad range of systems rather than being restricted to one narrow area.
What You Will Do
- Write and extend the core Java services: strategy logic, order and position management, venue connectivity, and market data.
- Take a loose requirement through design, build, test, and into production.
- Work with the quantitative researchers and traders to turn their ideas into production code.
- Profile and improve the latency-critical code paths.

What You'll Bring
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, concurrency).
- 5+ years of high-performance Java. Or experience with C++/C# and willing to work primarily in Java.
- Experience writing algorithms rather than relying purely on off-the-shelf libraries.
- Comfortable working with Linux and debugging live systems using logs and metrics.
- Ability to take open-ended specifications and make your own calls on what is needed.
Nice-to-Have
- Hands-on work with trading platforms or other real-time, latency-sensitive systems.
- Experience with Python for research/data tooling.

Interview Process
- 30 minute phone screen.
- On-site interview: 30 minutes discussing experience and 30 minutes coding on paper.
- Final round: Coding exercise and competency interview with the CTO.
Working Model
- Fully office-based role.
- Applicants must be comfortable commuting into London 5 days a week.
