Senior Java Developer
Location: North East/ Scotland (1 day per month on-site)
Salary: Circa £75,000
Employment: Permanent
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a strong Java Developer to join a highly technical engineering environment in the North East or Scotland.
This is an opportunity for someone who genuinely knows Java inside out and enjoys solving complex engineering problems. You’ll be joining a team where technical quality matters, working on robust, high-performance systems while having the flexibility to work predominantly remotely.
You’ll only be expected on-site around one day per month.

What We’re Looking For
- Excellent commercial experience developing with Java
- Strong knowledge of core Java, including concurrency, multithreading and performance
- Experience designing and building robust, scalable applications
- A solid understanding of software engineering principles and clean, maintainable code
- Experience working with modern development practices, testing and CI/CD
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- The ability to understand complex systems and make pragmatic technical decisions
- Confidence working collaboratively with other experienced engineers
- An interest in using AI tools to improve productivity, code quality, testing, documentation or problem-solving
- Curiosity about emerging technologies and how AI can support software engineering without compromising security, reliability or maintainability
