About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Java/Kotlin Engineer to join the core engineering team delivering a major, multi-year strategic risk system replatforming programme.
You will work at the heart of the programme, building key components within a highly scalable, risk-tolerant architecture designed to handle very large volumes of data in a demanding production environment.
This is an opportunity to work alongside a high-calibre team of senior engineers while gaining valuable exposure to Equity Derivatives and risk technology.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop core components of the strategic risk platform using Java and Kotlin.
- Build highly scalable and resilient systems capable of processing very large volumes of data.
- Apply TDD and strong software engineering principles throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop production-quality code within a high-pressure financial markets environment.
- Contribute to architectural and technical decisions across the replatforming programme.
- Work closely with experienced engineers to deliver critical components of the platform.
- Take ownership of technical challenges and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement of engineering standards.
- Support the reliability, scalability and maintainability of the platform.

Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial software engineering experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
- Strong experience with Kotlin is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding and practical experience of TDD.
- Experience building scalable, production-grade systems.
- Previous experience working with very large volumes of data.
- Comfortable working in high-pressure production environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
- Ability to work effectively within a highly experienced engineering team.
Nice to have
Desirable Experience
- Experience within investment banking, financial services or capital markets.
- Knowledge of Equity Derivatives and/or risk systems.
- Experience working on large-scale platform replatforming or transformation programmes.
- Experience with distributed and highly scalable architectures.
- Strong interest in learning financial markets and the underlying business domain.
The Team
You will join a high-performing core team of approximately 8 engineers, made up of JUXT and client-side developers.
The team operates to a very high engineering standard, with experienced senior developers who value quality, ownership and collaboration.
