Senior JVM Engineers – Java / Scala / Kotlin

Location: Canary Wharf, London – 3 days per week in the office

Salary: Up to £160,000 + benefits

We’re looking for an exceptional Senior JVM Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team in Canary Wharf. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, building highly scalable systems and working in a strong engineering culture. You’ll work primarily across the JVM ecosystem, with Java, Scala and/or Kotlin, contributing to the design and development of robust, high-performance distributed systems.

You’ll be expected to bring strong software engineering fundamentals, with TDD, clean code and automated testing embedded in your approach to development. Strong CI/CD experience is essential, along with a solid understanding of modern engineering practices and deployment pipelines. Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architecture or high-throughput environments would be highly advantageous. We’re looking for engineers who can operate at senior level, influence technical decisions and raise engineering standards across the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
