Role: Senior Key Account Manager

Location: UK & Ireland, office, hybrid and field based (Preferably East Midlands based)

Team: Commercial

Reports to: Head of Commercial Accounts


About the Job

Loom Talent Limited have exclusively partnered with a rapidly expanding Logistics based business who are seeking x2 Senior Account Managers due to rapid growth.

Our client offers innovative solutions to a ranging client base including Retail, Packaging, FMCG and General Merchandise.


The Role

This role would suit an experienced Senior Key Account Manager to join the Commercial team and manage strategic customer relationships across the UK and Ireland.

You will be responsible for retaining and developing key accounts, improving customer experience, maximising commercial opportunities and ensuring contractual, operational and financial performance remain on track.

This is a highly collaborative role. You will work closely with customers and internal teams across Commercial, Customer Service, Operations and Finance to identify supply chain improvements, resolve complex issues and deliver measurable value.

You will also act as a mentor to Account Managers and Account Executives, sharing best practice and helping the wider team raise its standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of high-volume and high-revenue customer accounts.
  • Build strong, multi-level relationships with customers and act as a senior escalation point.
  • Lead regular account reviews, performance meetings and customer visits.
  • Monitor account performance, revenue, volumes, balances, dwell, transfers and other key data.
  • Ensure commercial agreements, contractual obligations and invoicing requirements are accurately managed.
  • Develop and deliver strategic account plans, including SWOT analysis and improvement actions for key customers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs and deliver environmental benefits.
  • Identify new business opportunities from existing customers, suppliers and wider lead generation activity.
  • Follow the agreed pricing and RFQ framework to achieve targeted returns.
  • Use CRM to manage account activity, opportunities and the UK&I pipeline.
  • Produce and improve KPI reports, including the use of Power BI and other reporting tools.
  • Share market intelligence and customer insight with senior leadership.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to improve service levels and customer experience.
  • Support the development of Account Managers managing small and medium-sized accounts.
  • Investigate and manage non-conformance and complex customer issues.
  • Help define and implement account management KPIs, processes and best practice.

About You

To be successful in the role of Senior Key Account Manager you will be commercially astute, operationally confident, and motivated by challenge.

You'll bring:

  • 5+ years' experience in a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain / fast-paced service environment.
  • Strong understanding of the retail and FMCG landscape.
  • Strong understanding of customer account management and commercial agreements.
  • Comfortable having difficult conversations, solving problems quickly and working with people at every level, both internally and externally.
  • Commercially minded, data-driven and confident managing complex customer relationships. You will ask the right questions, challenge the status quo constructively and turn insight into practical action.
  • Experience working with data and analysis to drive results.
  • Advanced Excel capability.
  • Demonstrable experience managing strategic or high-value accounts.
  • Confidence negotiating commercial arrangements and managing partners.
  • Proactive, adaptable approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Commutable UK wide and based preferably in the East Midlands region.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Experience using Power BI.
  • Experience working with FMCG manufacturers, retailers or logistics providers.
  • Experience mentoring or developing account management colleagues.
  • Shape strategy and leave a lasting mark on a growing region.
  • High autonomy with strong support from a European business.
