Senior Knowledge Officer (Health) | Homebased | 21 hours per week between Monday to Friday 9am-5pm | £23,919.60 to £26,577.00 per annum | Permanent

Could you turn complex health and scientific information into clear, trusted knowledge that helps people affected by dementia?

Every day, people affected by dementia, and the colleagues who support them, need answers to difficult questions. They need information they can understand, rely on and use to make informed decisions.

As our Senior Knowledge Officer (Health), you’ll help make that possible.

You’ll be one of our trusted experts on the health aspects of dementia, developing and maintaining specialist knowledge across areas including symptoms, diagnosis, risk factors, prevention, treatments, brain changes and the healthcare system. You’ll keep up with developments in research, policy and guidance, helping our information and services remain accurate, accessible and rooted in the latest evidence.

This is an expert advisory, learning and influencing role, with plenty of variety and autonomy.

You’ll help colleagues make sense of complex questions, provide expert guidance and fact checking, and share your knowledge through training and learning. You’ll also contribute your expertise to wider projects across the Society and represent us at meetings, conferences and events.

You’ll play an important role in the information we provide to people affected by dementia too. Working collaboratively with our Publishing and Digital teams, you’ll research, evidence, write and review health information, helping to make sure our public information is trustworthy, accessible and meets the quality requirements of the PIF Tick scheme.

This isn’t primarily an editor or content producer role. Your specialist knowledge, curiosity and judgement are at its heart. You’ll need to look critically at evidence, consider complex questions and make thoughtful judgements when there isn’t always a straightforward answer.

It’s a role where you can see the difference your knowledge makes, from helping colleagues respond confidently to complex questions, to strengthening learning and shaping trusted information for people affected by dementia.

About you

You could thrive in this role if you:

  • Are scientifically minded and comfortable understanding complex health or medical information, with the critical thinking skills to assess evidence and make balanced judgements.
  • Communicate complex information clearly and accessibly, whether you’re writing for people affected by dementia, advising colleagues or speaking to different audiences.
  • Are curious and proactive about developing your knowledge, and confident using your expertise to answer challenging questions and offer constructive advice.
  • Can take ownership of your work, balance competing priorities and use your judgement to move work forward independently.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively, building positive relationships and sharing your knowledge through advice, training or presentations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Your background could be in health or patient information, medical or science communications, clinical education, research or another related area. You may already bring strong dementia knowledge, or you may have transferable expertise alongside the curiosity and ability to develop your dementia knowledge further.

You don’t need to have followed one particular career path. What matters is your ability to understand evidence, use sound judgement and communicate complex information with clarity and compassion.

If that sounds like you, we’d really like to hear from you.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for w/c 2nd Nov 2026 and will take place via Teams.

About Alzheimer's Society

Dementia is the UK's biggest killer. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime.

At Alzheimer's Society, we're the UK's leading dementia charity and the only one to tackle all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future. We give vital support to people facing the most frightening times of their lives, while also funding groundbreaking research and campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be.

Together with our supporters, we're working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

Our values make sure that our focus is clear for the challenges and opportunities ahead and remind us of what we all stand for.

Our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

We need to ensure the voices around our table better reflect and understand the communities we exist to serve. We strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Alzheimer's Society.

We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at Alzheimer's Society.

Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy here along with our internal employee forum and Employee Lived Experience network groups help us promote inclusion and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.

Our hiring process

During your recruitment process we want to make sure that you bring your whole self and can be at your best. We are working hard to ensure our recruitment process is as inclusive as possible, so please do inform us of your experience and anything you think we could do better by completing our candidate survey when you apply.

To ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed. We recognise the benefits of AI, but if you're considering using it to submit your application, we encourage you to reflect on the value it truly adds. AI tools often lack the personal touch and authenticity that set candidates apart. We want to hear your unique perspective, experiences, and skills, so we encourage you to showcase them in your own voice.

We try to avoid closing roles early where possible, however if we receive a high volume of applications, we may close earlier than the advertised closing date. Should this occur, we will aim to provide you with at least 48 hours' notice.

We are committed to safer recruitment and ensuring the welfare of those we work with, due to the nature of some of our roles, we might need to carry out a Criminal Record Check at the relevant level. You can read more information via our Website.

Giving back to you

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.

You can also visit our Working for Us pages, which give you more information about what it's like to be an employee at the Society.
