About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Kotlin Developer to join our dynamic team at Harvey Nash. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful, user-centered digital solutions that are transforming the public sector. As a key member of our multidisciplinary Agile teams, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering secure, scalable software solutions that meet the needs of our clients. You will take a leadership role, providing technical guidance, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring best practices are adhered to across all projects. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development with a focus on JVM technologies. Essential qualifications include proven commercial experience with Kotlin, Java, and related frameworks. A solid understanding of Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture is required. Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable. Candidates should have familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform. Additional exposure to Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js, or Nunjucks is advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for engineering excellence, collaborative delivery, and have experience working within consultancy or government environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-quality, user-focused software solutions, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards.
  • Design and implement robust back-end services using Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data specialists, and delivery teams to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and cloud-native solutions to ensure seamless delivery and operation of applications.
  • Mentor and support the growth of fellow engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.
  • Communicate technical solutions effectively to stakeholders, clients, and non-technical team members to facilitate understanding and buy-in.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and continuously improve the technical standards and practices within the team.
