Senior Kotlin Developer
£55,000 - £70,000 + Benefits
Hybrid (multiple UK locations available)
We're supporting a leading digital consultancy as they continue to grow their engineering function and are looking for an experienced Senior Kotlin Developer to join one of their high-performing delivery teams.
You'll work on complex software challenges for major public and private sector organisations, building resilient cloud-native applications that serve thousands of users. This is an opportunity to join a business renowned for engineering quality, modern development practices, and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
The Role
- Build and deliver enterprise-scale applications using Kotlin and modern JVM technologies.
- Help shape technical solutions, architecture decisions, and engineering standards across projects.
- Develop scalable microservices and APIs that support critical digital services.
- Work within multidisciplinary agile teams alongside Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, and Engineers.
- Drive engineering best practice across testing, automation, deployment, and software quality.
- Contribute to cloud-native solutions deployed across modern public cloud environments.
- Support and mentor other developers, helping to grow technical capability within the wider team.
- Play a key role in delivering user-focused software that balances performance, security, and maintainability.

Essential Skills
- Strong commercial experience developing applications with Kotlin.
- Excellent knowledge of Java and the wider JVM ecosystem.
- Experience building backend solutions using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and API development.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Exposure to containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Strong understanding of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and Agile delivery.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of frontend technologies such as TypeScript or Node.js.
- Experience delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes.
