Job Title
We are looking for a candidate with strong Java and / or Kotlin, good oracle skills and experience, and knowledge of and experience developing and running high-throughput distributed systems. Kubernetes knowledge also preferred.
Responsibilities
- System Architecture & Development: Design, build, and optimize high-throughput distributed services using Kotlin and Java.
- Temporal Data Platform Evolution: Scale and maintain the Area 51 platform to ensure fast, reliable access to large volumes of temporal instrument data for risk and trading engines.
- Database Optimization: Partner with complex Oracle Database environments—optimizing queries, data access patterns, and throughput for massive enterprise datasets.
- Container Orchestration: Manage, deploy, and scale microservices on Kubernetes.
- Senior Engineering Practice: Participate in architectural discussions, maintain high test coverage, and drive code quality within a close-knit, expert team.

Requirements
- Strong hands-on engineering experience in Kotlin and/or Java.
- Proven track record designing, building, and operating high-throughput, distributed backend systems.
- Deep expertise with Oracle Database (query performance, schema design, and enterprise data management).
- Practical production experience deploying and running microservices on Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of data structures, concurrency, and performance tuning for high-volume enterprise software.
Nice to Have
- Domain experience in financial services, specifically Equity Derivatives, Market Data, or Risk Management platforms.
- Exposure to temporal database concepts or high-volume financial data modeling.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message-oriented middleware.
- Strong background in automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
