Senior Software Engineer
We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a major transformation programme within Prime Finance Equities, helping modernise a suite of front-to-back trading and post-trade platforms. This is an opportunity to work on highly distributed, event-driven systems that underpin a global equities business, while influencing the future architecture of a strategic technology platform.
You'll join a team building cloud-native solutions using modern engineering practices, working closely with both technology and business stakeholders across the equities trading landscape.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and developing scalable backend services for trading and post-trade platforms
- Building event-driven applications and messaging-based integrations
- Developing high-quality software using Kotlin and Java within JVM ecosystems
- Influencing architecture and contributing to key technology decisions
- Applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles to ensure software quality
- Implementing resilient event processing, replay and recovery capabilities
- Driving frequent deployments through modern CI/CD pipelines
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex production and performance challenges
- Collaborating closely with business users, traders, and technology teams
- Contributing to strategic platform transformation and future market expansion initiatives

What We're Looking For
- Kotlin and Java experience from within financial services environment
- Strong background building distributed, event-driven systems
- Deep understanding of messaging patterns, resiliency, ordering, replay, and failure handling
- Proven experience applying TDD and owning software quality end-to-end
- Experience working within Agile environments using CI/CD and trunk-based development
- Strong capital markets knowledge, particularly across trade lifecycle and post-trade processes
- Understanding of trade booking, position management, settlement, accounting, and cashflows
- Excellent system design and architecture skills

Desirable Experience
- Kafka, Solace, or TIBCO EMS
- SQL Server, MongoDB, and object storage technologies such as S3
- Kubernetes and OpenShift
- OpenTelemetry, ELK Stack, and Grafana
- HashiCorp Vault and CyberArk
- Prime Brokerage, Synthetic Swaps, or Cash Equities experience
- Regulatory reporting knowledge including EMIR, MiFID, or 871(m)
- Integration with risk, valuation, and reporting platforms
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Devin
- Exposure to React or Angular environments
