We're hiring a Senior Laravel Software Engineer
Skarn Associates is a specialised data intelligence company focused on the global mining and metals industry, and we're looking for a Senior Laravel Software Engineer to join our engineering team.
This is a senior, hands-on role with technical ownership of features from design through to deployment. You'll be building and maintaining the platforms that deliver Skarn's data products to clients, working across a Laravel-based backend and a mixed frontend stack.
The initial focus will be on delivering product enhancements to our existing codebase, leveraging AI to accelerate development while maintaining high standards of quality, security and maintainability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading product enhancement design and development across our Laravel platform
- Working closely with product and data teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
- Leading architectural decisions and helping shape technical standards
- Writing clean, well-tested, maintainable code and reviewing the work of others
- Using AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to improve delivery quality and pace
- Supporting CI/CD, testing and deployment practices
- Mentoring other engineers and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture

We're looking for someone with:
- Strong commercial experience with Laravel
- Experience working across a mixed frontend stack including Tailwind, Alpine.js, Bootstrap and jQuery
- Strong JavaScript fundamentals
- Solid understanding of relational databases and API design
- Experience with authentication integrations such as OAuth2, SSO or SAML
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude, Copilot or similar as part of day-to-day development
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non-engineering stakeholders
