Senior L&D Consultant – Birmingham, Manchester or Marlow
Location: Birmingham, Manchester or Marlow
Salary: £65,000 + Commission
Working Pattern: Hybrid
We're looking for an experienced Senior L&D Consultant to support enterprise-level sales teams and commercial leaders. You'll bring a proven track record of developing capability within large, complex sales organisations, designing learning strategies that improve performance, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
As a senior consultant, you'll confidently navigate competing priorities, work autonomously, and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders. You'll balance strategic capability planning with hands-on delivery, knowing when to lead independently and when to leverage internal or external expertise to achieve the best results.
Success in this role is supported by an exceptional environment. You'll join a growing organisation where learning and capability are genuinely valued, senior leaders actively champion development, and employees are motivated to continually improve.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
- Develop and own capability strategies that align with commercial priorities, translating business objectives into targeted learning and upskilling plans.
- Partner with enterprise sales teams, sales leaders and senior stakeholders to identify capability gaps, influence decision-making and deliver high-impact development solutions.
- Build credibility across the business through exceptional stakeholder management, providing constructive challenge and trusted performance consulting.
- Design, develop and deliver engaging learning solutions across virtual, face-to-face and blended environments that drive capability growth, behavioural change and commercial performance.
- Own learning initiatives from discovery and diagnosis through design, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Create practical, modern learning experiences based on adult learning principles that deliver measurable business impact.
- Facilitate workshops, coach individuals and teams, and support leaders in embedding learning into day-to-day performance.
- Measure learning effectiveness using data, insight and business metrics, demonstrating ROI and using findings to shape future capability decisions.
- Manage multiple capability programmes simultaneously, balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day business requirements.
- Build and manage relationships with external learning providers and capability partners to ensure high-quality, measurable outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of capability frameworks, skills assessments and structured development pathways where appropriate.
- Operate confidently in a fast-paced, high-growth commercial environment, maintaining focus on outcomes and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
