Senior Lead - Intelligent Oversight

Ofgem is developing a new approach to how we oversee energy networks, using better intelligence to understand performance, identify risks and protect consumers. We’re looking for a Senior Lead - Intelligent Oversight to help shape that approach and put it into practice.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers – especially vulnerable people.

This is a permanent opportunity to lead our Intelligent Oversight team as we develop a new way of overseeing energy networks. Combining the chance to shape our approach with the responsibility to put it into practice, you’ll be able to influence how we work and then see the difference it makes.

You’ll have the chance to grow your leadership credentials, taking the lead on important areas of oversight and bringing together expertise from across Ofgem to get to the heart of complex issues. With the authority to challenge, influence and make evidence-based judgements, you’ll build your reputation as a trusted regulatory leader whilst helping shape decisions that deliver better outcomes for consumers.

Job description

We’re looking for someone with experience of regulatory oversight in any sector or energy sector regulation, which could include policy development, performance monitoring, price controls or other company-facing regulatory work. You’ll also need strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, experience of leading engagement with external organisations and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to turn strategic objectives into practical approaches and continually improve how they work will also be essential.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
