Role Overview
Hackney Council is looking for a dedicated and skilled Senior Leasehold Income Officer to join our Leasehold Income Team. In this pivotal role, you will deputise for the Leasehold Income Manager and take charge of complex arrears and legal cases. Your expertise will help implement effective recovery strategies while overseeing activities aimed at recovering service charges and other debts, including major works, shared ownership, ground rent, and reserve funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Leasehold Income Manager
- Oversee complex arrears and legal cases
- Implement effective recovery strategies
- Manage the bulk process for legal actions
- Assist Leasehold Income Officers in assessing the merits of each case
- Represent Hackney at County Courts and Tribunals
- Ensure successful outcomes in debt recovery proceedings and disputes
- Provide regular updates to management regarding the complexities of legal actions and challenges encountered
- Instruct the Council’s legal representatives
- Manage the bulk money claims process
- Coordinate the timely progression of cases
- Oversee customer inquiries, complaints, and disputes arising from legal actions
- Ensure all collected funds are accurately accounted for and posted to the correct accounts

Required Experience
- Strong background in debt recovery within a housing environment
- Experience with solicitors, court protocols, and housing legislation
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proven track record of resolving complex arrears cases efficiently
