Teaching and Module Delivery

• Plan, develop, and deliver high-quality, student-centred lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops for assigned modules.
• Use a range of effective teaching methods to support different learning needs and promote engagement and inclusivity.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant subject areas and ensure teaching content reflects contemporary industry practice and academic developments.

Assessment and Feedback

• Design, manage, and assess formative and summative coursework, ensuring fairness, transparency, and relevance.
• Provide succinct, constructive, coherent, and timely feedback to support students’ academic development, reflection, and progression.
• Ensure assessment and feedback practices align with expectations across the English Higher Education sector.

Student Support and Guidance

• Act as an academic advisor and mentor, providing guidance on academic matters and professional development.
• Organise and participate in student engagement, learning support, and academic integrity activities.
• Support individual student needs, including reasonable adjustments, and refer students to appropriate support services where required.

Curriculum and Module Development

• Work with faculty, management, students, and external stakeholders to develop and enhance curricula in response to industry and academic developments.
• Develop and update teaching resources, including reading lists, case studies, practical exercises, and online learning content.
• Participate in Academic Development Committees and curriculum review activities, including the development of new and revised programmes.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

• Take responsibility for the academic quality and standards of the Business and Management for Creatives programme.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality assurance requirements, awarding partner expectations, and relevant sector frameworks.
• Review programme data and quality measures to identify areas for enhancement and improve student outcomes.
• Respond to recommendations from external examiners, partner reviews, validation events, and quality audits.
• Adhere to VCAD and partner institution policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
• Participate in peer review, teaching observation, and evaluation processes to support the enhancement of teaching practice.

Professional Development

• Participate in professional development activities, keeping abreast of innovations and developments within the field of higher education teaching and learning and regulatory requirements.

Administrative and Departmental Responsibilities

• Undertake administrative duties relating to teaching, timetabling, module coordination, course management, marking, grading, and other activities required for the effective running of the programme.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings and contribute to departmental objectives.
• Support open days, student recruitment, induction, knowledge transfer, and outreach activities.
• Contribute to VCAD initiatives including diversity and inclusion, digital learning, and community engagement.

Staff Management and Leadership Responsibilities

As Programme Leader, you will undertake line management responsibilities for members of the Business and Management for Creatives teaching team.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing day-to-day academic leadership and management of the teaching team.
• Conducting one-to-one meetings, probation reviews, performance reviews, and development discussions.
• Supporting staff in enhancing teaching practice, assessment design, student engagement, and professional development.
• Monitoring workload allocation, teaching delivery, assessment practices, and compliance with institutional policies.
• Promoting effective teamwork, communication, and the sharing of good practice.
• Contributing to recruitment, induction, and mentoring of new academic staff where required.
• Escalating staffing, performance, quality, or student-related concerns to the Deputy Dean as appropriate.

The Programme Leader role is a designated leadership responsibility undertaken alongside the substantive Senior Lecturer post and will be recognised in accordance with VCAD workload allocation, remission, and reward policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience of teaching.
• Knowledge of the Higher Education sector in England.
• Experience of designing and developing teaching content.
• Confidence and ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to a class of students.
• Ability to utilise a range of digital platforms, particularly Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.
• Enthusiasm, knowledge, and experience within your specialist area.

Desirable

• Master’s degree.
• Recognised teaching qualification.
• Relevant professional experience in an associated or appropriate area of practice.
