Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research focused)
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Research focused) within the Division of Psychology and Mental Health, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. This permanent academic position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high quality, impactful research in an area relevant to psychology and mental health, alongside the continued enhancement of the student experience across our programmes.
Responsibilities
- Carry out research at nationally and internationally recognised levels of excellence that is aligned with the priorities of the Division and Faculty, and to regularly publish the results in leading outlets.
- Apply for and win research funds from external sources at a level which allows them to be competitive in their field and to create opportunities for next generation researchers.
- Design and deliver high-quality and engaging teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, employing evidence-informed approaches that support student learning.
- Contribute to the continued enhancement of the student experience through curriculum development, innovation in teaching and assessment, and engagement with student feedback and programme improvement activities.
- Provide effective academic advising, supervision and pastoral support, helping students to navigate their studies and achieve their goals.

About You
We welcome candidates who bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and approaches to their work.
Essential Criteria
- A PhD in psychology, clinical psychology or a related academic discipline.
- An established record and continuing trajectory of high-quality research outputs.
- A track record of obtaining significant external research funding.
- Evidence of research independence and the ability to lead projects.
- A sustained record of successful teaching, assessment and student support for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
Desirable Criteria
- A teaching qualification or fellowship appropriate to higher education (e.g. HEA/Advance HE).
- Experience of successful completion of academic service or leadership roles.
We value transferable skills and real-world experience as much as formal qualifications.
