Totum Partners Recruitment for Senior Legal Biller
Totum Partners are working with a top-tier international law firm in the City of London to recruit a Senior Legal Biller. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded global firm with a strong international presence and a collaborative culture. Working within a small and supportive team, you will take ownership of complex legal billing matters across multiple jurisdictions and support partners and fee earners with all aspects of the billing process. The role offers hybrid working, with three days in the office and two days from home.
About the Role
The ideal Senior Legal Biller will be responsible for:
- Preparing and issuing complex legal invoices in accordance with client requirements and billing instructions
- Managing multi-currency, multi-payor and international billing arrangements
- Ensuring VAT, withholding tax, currency and payor details are accurate prior to billing
- Processing billing amendments including write-offs, transfers, credit notes, cancellations and reissued invoices
- Reviewing and actioning billing requests within agreed client deadlines
- Monitoring WIP balances and assisting with month-end billing activities
- Managing billing queries through shared inboxes and client portals
- Reviewing engagement terms and ensuring compliance with SRA and HMRC requirements
- Liaising with partners, fee earners, PAs and international offices to resolve billing issues
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting audit and compliance requirements
- Assisting with process improvement initiatives across the billing function

Requirements
The ideal Senior Legal Biller will be responsible for:
- Previous legal billing experience gained within a law firm
- Experience handling complex billing arrangements including multi-currency and multi-payor matters
- Strong understanding of VAT, withholding tax and legal billing requirements
- Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
- Experience working closely with partners, fee earners and senior stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the business
- Good understanding of engagement letters and company structures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
