Role Description
The Legal Cashier is a full-time remote role responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations for client law firms in line with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Typical tasks include:
- Processing client and office account transactions
- Maintaining accurate ledgers
- Reconciling bank accounts
- Monitoring compliance with solicitors’ accounts rules
- Preparing financial reports
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
- Supporting internal and external audits

The role involves liaising with legal teams and management to clarify transactional queries, ensure timely resolution of discrepancies, and provide clear financial information to support decision-making. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying process improvements and maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications
- Experience in legal cashiering or similar finance role within a law firm, including handling client and office accounts and bank reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of solicitors’ accounts rules and relevant regulatory frameworks, with a commitment to ethical and compliant financial practices.
- Proficiency with accounting and practice management software, as well as solid skills in spreadsheets and general office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines in a remote environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with lawyers, support staff, and external stakeholders.
- Organizational and time-management abilities, including prioritizing workloads and maintaining clear records and documentation.
- Relevant finance or accounting qualification (e.g., AAT or equivalent) or comparable professional experience; prior experience in professional services or legal sector is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to evolving processes and technology in a remote setting.
