Job Title: Qualified Solicitor / Legal Counsel (Commercial & Outsourcing)

A bit about the job
Aviva is undergoing an exciting period of strong growth as a result of its continued focus on strategic projects and acquisitions. We have an exciting 6-month contract opportunity for a Qualified Solicitor / Legal Counsel to join our busy Commercial and Outsourcing legal team. Acting as a key backfill within the team, your primary focus will be navigating commercial contracting within a supplier context and managing a variety of contractor contractual activities. You will provide first-class legal services to the Aviva Group, mitigating legal risks on high-priority projects in accordance with Group policies, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders on third-party negotiations.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor with strong post-qualification experience in commercial law.
- Commercial Contracting Expertise: Proven track record of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, specifically with a deep understanding of the supplier/procurement context.
- Contractor Activity: Experience managing and advising on varied contractor contractual activities and frameworks.
- Industry Background: Financial Services (FS) experience is highly desirable. Experience working within a Big 4 environment (such as PwC or Deloitte) is a major plus.
- Risk Management: Skilled negotiator capable of balancing robust legal protection with practical commercial risks.
- Communication: Excellent communicator with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders across the business.
- Mindset: Proactive, solutions-focused, and confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
