BWSC is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Legal Counsel to join our dedicated legal & compliance team.
Working from our office in Warrington, you will play an important role in supporting our business with practical legal advice, contract management, risk mitigation, and compliance across an international organization.

We are seeking to always provide Ever Better Energy whether it comes to optimizing a conventional power plant, operating a biomass power plant, or constructing new energy facilities. The position
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the General Counsel and work closely with management and key stakeholders across BWSC. You will provide commercially focused legal advice that supports our projects, corporate governance, and strategic priorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert legal advice on a wide range of topics, including contract law, commercial transactions, corporate governance, company law, and dispute resolution.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements that are critical to our projects, partnerships, and business operations.
- Identifying and mitigating legal risks by conducting thorough risk assessments and advising on effective strategies.
- Supporting corporate governance efforts, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, company policies, and corporate structures.
- Collaborating with external legal counsel on specialized legal issues and complex cases.
- Staying ahead of legal developments by monitoring relevant legislation, industry regulations, and trends to ensure BWSC’s compliance.
- Managing dispute resolution processes, including litigation and arbitration, to protect the company’s interests.
- Educating internal teams on legal matters, such as contract management, compliance, and corporate policies, to foster a culture of legal awareness.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings strong legal expertise, sound business judgement, and the ability to navigate complex legal matters in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
You thrive in an international environment, work independently, and have the following background and experience:
- A UK legal qualification, or an equivalent legal qualification relevant to the role.
- At least 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably from an in-house legal function or a law firm, with experience in commercial contracts, corporate law, and/or the energy or industrial sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK law and relevant international legal frameworks, including experience with cross-border matters and dispute resolution.
- Is fluent in English, both written and spoken. Danish language skills are not required but may be an advantage.
- Demonstrates excellent drafting and negotiation skills with attention to detail.
- Exhibits strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Can work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
- Shows a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and the ability to collaborate with management, clients, and external partners.

Whilst working as a Senior Legal Counsel at BWSC, we offer a competitive starting salary depending on experience and a great total reward package including:
