Senior Legal Counsel

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join a dynamic and highly collaborative legal team. The successful candidate will provide commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of strategic, commercial, and corporate matters while partnering with stakeholders across the organisation.

Reporting into senior leadership, the role requires a proactive legal professional who can effectively manage complex contractual matters, influence key business decisions, mitigate legal risk, and support the delivery of the organisation's wider strategic objectives.

We are recruiting within Manchester and Coventry operating on a hybrid approach with at least 1 day a week in the office.

The role is 35 hours (full time) however flexible working such as part-time or compressed hours will be considered.

About You

The successful candidate will be a commercially minded legal professional with the ability to provide clear, practical, and solution-focused advice to colleagues at all levels. They will demonstrate strong alignment with the Group's values and a proven ability to effectively manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

They will possess excellent drafting, research, negotiation, analytical, and influencing skills, alongside the ability to build strong working relationships across teams and stakeholders. A collaborative approach is essential, with the ability to work effectively within the Commercial Legal team, the wider General Counsel Function, and across the broader business.

Requirements

  • Experience within financial services (or with FS clients)
  • Strong experience advising on complex commercial, supplier, partner or outsourcing arrangements
  • Qualified lawyer with significant relevant post-qualification experience
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, research, and negotiation skills
  • Experience identifying, assessing and managing legal, regulatory, operational and commercial risks
