Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our MRES-ET team based in London.
Responsibilities
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide senior-level legal support for the development, acquisition, and early-stage construction of renewable energy, BESS, and data center projects across the UK and Western Europe, with a particular focus on property, land rights, and development structuring.

- Provide senior, pragmatic legal advice to Western Europe development teams
- Lead land and property structuring for renewable and data center projects
- Identify and escalate fatal-flaw risks early in the development lifecycle
- Support development-stage acquisitions and asset rotation transactions
- Coordinate with EPC, M&A, and Finance legal teams to ensure smooth phase transitions
- Manage external counsel to ensure quality, consistency, and cost control
- Contribute to regional legal strategy, precedents, and shared learning
- Development milestones supported on time and within agreed legal budgets
- Early identification and mitigation of material land and legal risks
- Consistent application of group legal standards across Western Europe
- Effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external counsel
Requirements
What you bring to the role:
- UK-qualified solicitor (England & Wales)
- 7+ years’ PQE in renewable energy, infrastructure, or complex real estate development, gained in-house and/or private practice, preferably with strong UK property transaction experience
- Strong experience in property and land law, including options, leases, easements, wayleaves, access rights, and title matters
- Experience negotiating landowner arrangements for renewable energy projects
- Detailed knowledge of renewable energy and/or data center development (solar PV, BESS, and hybrid projects)
- Working knowledge of EPC, O&M, PPAs, and grid connection arrangements (development-stage focus)
- Ability to manage multi-jurisdictional Western European legal issues with local counsel
